(Boulder, CO) – The Brewers Association announced the following news on Thursday:
“In less than eight months, more than 3,000 craft brewing companies—representing more than 6,000 craft brewing locations in the U.S.—have signed on to use the independent craft brewer seal. Simply amazing! Reaching this milestone is just the tip of the iceberg. More breweries will continue to adopt and use the seal, deepening the impact of this powerful new certified mark.”
The organization launched the seal for the first time back on June 27, making it available to “more than 5,300 small and independent American craft brewers that have a valid TTB Brewer’s Notice, meet the BA’s craft brewer definition and sign a license agreement.”
On July 19th, we received our first update on brewer adoption with the BA reporting that, “more than 1,250 brewing companies and counting, representing more than 1,500 brewing locations,” had signed the agreement.
The BA then reported on October 12th that, “2,375 brewing companies representing an estimated 75% of U.S. craft brewer volume have signed on.”
Signings in the first few weeks was over 55 breweries per day though signings in the past few months has slowed to 13 breweries a day. At that rate, the BA may hit 4,000 breweries signed on by the end of 2018.
