[Press Release:]
(San Francisco, CA) – The top-tier regional invitational festival, the SF Beer Week Opening Gala serves as the pinnacle of craft beer in Northern California. Kicking off 10 days of craft beer discovery on February 10, the Opening Gala gathers more than 125 breweries for the grand unveiling of their most decorated beers, many of which beer aficionados will taste for the very first time while traversing the Gala grounds. Upwards of 400 beers will be exhibited, with nearly 100 rare and freshly brewed releases making their public debut at Pier 48 in San Francisco. Tickets to the Opening Gala are now on sale at sfbeerweek.org (VIP: $120/GA: $80).
America’s first craft brewing region, San Francisco continues to be a hotbed of beer innovation, where trends and techniques are created, rediscovered and riffed on. Beer styles are being flipped on their heads, and the explosion of sub-styles, combined with the reinterpretation of styles thought long lost, make SF Beer Week an epicenter for beer exploration.
At the Opening Gala and throughout SF Beer Week 2017, brewers are sure to deliver diverse IPAs — the hazy, the clear, the single-hopped, dry-hopped, dank, citrusy and more, including over a dozen triple IPAs. There will be sours, delicate or bracing; gruits shunning hops for herbs; traditionally brewed beers showcasing clean, classic ale and lager styles; malt-forward and “imperial-ized” approaches delivering rich, viscous beers tasting more dessert than drink; and the appearance of diverse specialty ingredients, bound to add intriguing, sometimes unexpected flavors. The diversity of beers presented by local and regional brewers will be something to behold.
In anticipation of the Opening Gala, the San Francisco Brewers Guild revealed today a colossal list of specialty beers to be featured at Pier 48 on February 10. Below is a curated list of some the most exciting rare and brand new beers coming to the Opening Gala. For a comprehensive beer list to be presented at the Gala, please visit sfbeerweek.org.

About San Francisco Brewers Guild
The San Francisco Brewers Guild formed in 2004 as a non-profit 501(c)(6) during a renaissance in American craft brewing. Our mission is to restore and preserve San Francisco’s brewing heritage and unite those who make local beer with those who love it. The Guild achieves this by educating the public about craft beer, organizing and hosting events such as SF Beer Week, Brews on the Bay and Meet the Brewers, advocating for the craft beer industry in city government, donating services and product to local charities, and partnering with artisan producers in the food, beverage, hospitality and agricultural industries.
