(Portland, OR) – On August 27th, the Ambassador Board of New Avenues for Youth will present the 5th Annual Brews for New Avenues (BFNA) – a unique fundraising event that brings together Portland’s only live auction of rare beer and more than 30 great craft beers on draft to create the ultimate beer enthusiast event.
A sampling of this year’s auction bottles:
· Cantillon Carignan 2015 – Lambic with Carignan grapes added; it is only available for onsite consumption at Cantillon.
· Jean Chris Nomad 2011 – Gueze blended exclusively for the Miorge Mihoublon beer store in Arlon, Belgium. It is a blend of 3 lambics of different years aged in barrels that previously contained red Bordeaux, white Bordeaux, and Cotes du Rhone wines.
· Cantillon Symbiose – a special bottling of Lambic Van Jaune for a restaurant in France. It is a 3 year old lambic ages in Vin Juane barrels. Vin Jaune has only been made available at a few small festivals such as Cantillon Quintessence.
Last year’s event featured some of the world’s rarest bottles (the highest bid of the night was $3,000 for a single bottle of Grote Dorst, Oude Geuze!), as well as over 30 special-release and rare kegs—and raised more than $58,000 for New Avenues’ programs and services for foster, at-risk and homeless youth. This year’s event is shaping up to be even bigger and better with more than 36 participating breweries, exclusive live auction packages from Cantillon, silent auctions, an expanded “Wall of Beer” (pay $10, select a mystery bottle worth even more) live music, food, and more!
