Hangar 24 Hammerhead Barrel-Aged Barleywine returns on March 29th

Hangar 24 Hammerhead label(Redlands, CA) – Hangar 24 Brewery announced on Thursday its annual Hammerhead releases details. More below…

This year’s batch of Hammerhead has been bottled, and the process filled our brewery with its wonderful aromas of whisky, toffee and hops.

Hammerhead is the fourth entry in our Barrel Roll Series, an American Barleywine built around two English caramel malts and four American hops. We take that dark amber liquid and dry hop it, then age it in charred oak rye and bourbon whisky barrels for six months. The final beer has layers of toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, bourbon and oak. The dry hopping lends it a surprising level of fresh hop aroma, and the 11.2% abv gives Hammerhead a warmth that lingers through the finish.

We got thirsty just writing that! Now about the release: this year’s bottles will be available on two days only, beginning with the launch celebration on March 29th. As always, we’ve got some good times planned.

1) A Hammerhead release flight featuring 2014 Hammerhead, 2013 Hammerhead, Hammerhead aged in brandy barrels, and bourbon barrel Hammerhead/Gourdgeous blend (a fan favorite from Pugafest). You can sample these individually, or purchase a flight with all 4.
