A Beer 350 Years in the Making
We just put the first batches of NJ 350 Anniversary Ale in the fermenters as part of the state’s year-long celebration of New Jersey’s founding. The beer, an English Stock Ale, features a generous helping of blackstrap molasses. Hops include Cluster, the first variety cultivated in the US, as well as the more modern Simcoe and Centennial. The Cluster will add a nice piney character, a nod to the Pine Barrens, a New Jersey treasure.
The 7.5% ABV beer will be available in 750ml bottles as well as draft starting in April.
Newest Batch Exit 1 Bayshore Oyster Stout Now Out
It was a bit of a tough time for the oysterman who were unable to work with the Delaware Bay frozen. Fortunately a few warm days allowed them to get out on the water and get us another batch of awesome local East Bay oysters.
In case you didn’t know, Exit 1 is an export style stout brewed with oysters. The creamy flavor of English chocolate and roasted malts harmonizes with minerals from the oyster shells. Irish ale yeast adds a bit of fruitiness and a dry crispness. This rich stout is perfect for cool weather–and especially delicious when paired with a few Jersey oysters on the half shell.
Exit 1 is available in 12 oz. 6-packs, 1/6 and 1/2 kegs and should be available throughout our distribution area.
New Fish Tanks
Our two new 150 barrel fermenters (each holds about 2,100 cases) made it safe and sound from the manufacturer in Oregon. In only four hours we offloaded them, dropped them through the roof hatch into the brewery and installed them in place. In a few more days we’ll be ready to start filling them with Farmhouse Summer Ale. Hopefully the summer weather will follow.
Welcome Back Robin Tama
After a few years of working in construction management, our long-time Central and South Jersey sales rep Robin Tama–one of the founders of Flying Fish–has rejoined the team. She’ll be running our tasting room and tour program and help us develop that along, including, if things go to plan, some outdoor seating for the warmer weather.
