As craft beer grows each year, new trends emerge. Canning is one of those trends. The Spoetzl Brewery has been canning their flagship Bock for quite some time, but now they’re canning seasonals as well. For the first time they’re canning the spring seasonal, Shiner FM 966 Farmhouse Ale. It is available now through March. This brew first launched last year in bottles and on draft only. They’re excited to add cans to the mix.
A few centuries ago, during the cold winter months, farmhands in Europe brewed a ‘seasonal provision’ Farmhouse Ale to be enjoyed once spring rolled around. In the farmlands of Shiner, TX, that tradition lives on. Which is why their tribute to this style uses Golding, Sterling and Meridian hops for a sweet yet lightly spiced flavor. FM 966 bears the name of the farm to market road just south of where the brewery has proudly stood for over 100 years.
