Backlash Beer speaks out about treatment of women in beer industry

Let’s try this on for size: Can we please just talk to each other, oh I don’t know, as people? Don’t assume that because you’re speaking with the female half of a male-female duo that she has any less knowledge about certain subject matter or has put in less effort than her counterpart. I promise you, if you do so, you’re wrong more often than you’re right.

After reading the original blog and the recent update I had the feeling that in any other industry the term sous he bag is completely inappropriate and unprofessional. But this isn’t any other industry.
This is an industry that speaks truth, repays the community and most importantly backs up their partners. Sadly, many of us speak to harshly and condesendingly when it’s a topic we believe we know and will hold to our beliefs however wrong they are. Some of those beliefs we don’t even know we have and hopefully the “gentleman” that night is newly embarrassed and hopefully meant no insult.
My wife, and CFO of our brewery, amazes me daily of her support and the ability to learn about the industry from my momentary feeling out about a new brew. She could honestly put myself a few years ago to shame.
Well played backing your partner and wife. At times it’s felt like she’s belived in it more than me and kept it going.
