Our latest Even Smaller Batch canned good — Patty’s Chile Beer — is now heading to our Wynkoop beer accounts here in Colorado.

A longtime Wynkoop favorite, Patty’s Chile Beer is a unique golden ale with glorious green chile flavors and aromas, but no heat. Immensely flavorful, refreshing and quaffable, it’s a gourmet creation built with Marris Otter malts, British hops, and late additions of Anaheim peppers and smoked ancho peppers.

It’s also divinely quaffable at just 4.2% ABV.

One of our many pioneering Wynkoop beers, Patty’s history goes back to approximately 1990. The beer was a creation of our famed original brewer, Russell Schehrer, and it’s one of the craft beer movement’s first chile beers. (It might be the first chile beer in a can.)

It is also a 2006 Great American Beer Festival bronze medalist.

The beer was named in honor of Patricia Calhoun, the legendary founder and editor of Westword, D-town’s revered alternative weekly. She was the beer’s most loyal fan back when the beer was created and Westword’s offices were located across the street from our brewpub at 18th & Wynkoop streets.

Patty’s Chile Beer is now available (in limited supply) in fourpacks of cans that we hand-label and fill at our brewpub.

  1. I enjoyed the chilli beer in the clear glass bottle with the pepper tucked inside. It was brewed by Plank Road Brewery in the 90s and was DELICIOUS!!!! Do you know where I can get some????
