The Bruery Ebony & Oak labels that did not make the cut
The Bruery did a unique thing this spring, holding a contest to help crowdsource the label artwork for a bourbon barrel aged stout known as Ebony and Oak. The beer was in the news this week due to an infection. Over 60 designs were submitted, all of which you can view here, including the winner.

Breweries: The Bruery
Crowdsourcing devalues and belittles the design profession, pure and simple, and the Bruery should be ashamed of themselves. Why should any professional designer (or any professional from any field, for that matter) do the work up front for the chance to get paid for it? Would YOU work that way, not knowing if you were going to get compensated for the work you’d already done?
^ I don’t know about all that. But on the third page bottom left, entry from user 1v1willwreku, was the clear winner in my book. If they chose that label the beer probably never would have wound up infected.
