(Portland, ME) – Allagash Brewing Co. recently received label approval for Merveilleux. With statement of process-processing times increasing delaying approvals for some breweries, Allagash appears to be wasting no time in releasing this one now that it is cleared.

MERVEILLEUX, french for marvelous, is the second release of this limited series. This beer is a blend of five different beers fermented in a mix of both bourbon and wine barrels. Brettanomyces, pediococcus and lactobacillus were all utilized to create a myriad of flavors in this unique copper colored beer. The aroma is defined by the presense of the Brett resulting in both a crusty bread and fruit character. The tartness works well with the light oak and distinct citrus flavors, which are followed by a gentle maltiness and dry finish. 9.6% ABV. 375ML bottles.

The brewery also recently released Bourbon Barrel Black in the tasting room. Per Allagash late last week, “This will be shipped out to our distributors in Maine and Mass next week. We are hoping to eventually ship it further.”
