The road to dominating the U.S. beer market as a contract brand
“Contract manufacturing is what most of the world does today,” Schwalbe said. “Nobody really makes their own products. They outsource it. I said I would suspect that you could do the same thing in beer.”
This one sure gets to the point. More gems over on Vimeo.

Yeah…except for the fact that nothing good has ever come out of Minhas. Ever.
The thing I love about I love about drinking craft beer (other than the flavor, of course), is that the beer has a story. The story of the people who worked hard to craft a product they’re proud of. The story of those working to craft the perfect recipe to put a smile on a person’s face. To go in with the goal being to never brew their own beer removes any story. It defeats the localness I love about craft beer and craft products in general. Good or bad, the beer may as well be Budweiser.
As a side note, I recognize that brewers often contract out to quickly increase capacity until they can grow into it. I don’t have an issue with that. My problem is that to go into the game with the goal of never brewing makes the brewery merely a marketing company. That’s it. It lacks that something extra that going to my local brewing and speaking with the brewers adds.
