(Atlanta, GA) – SweetWater Brewing is making progress in its moves toward new states.
SweetWater recently announced in its newsletter that it would roll out to Kentucky this month beginning with the Lexington market. The company will start with 420 on draft, followed by bottles of IPA, Blue and 420 in package. Louisville launch will take place “a couple months down the road.” A spokesperson confirms that it has selected Kentucky Eagle as a distribution partner in the Bluegrass State.
Meanwhile, The Ale Runner reports that, in Louisiana, the company is going with “Southern Eagle in New Orleans, Mockler Beverage in Baton Rouge and Champagne Beverage on the Northshore” in their respective markets. TAR says launch could be as early as late August. A SweetWater spokesperson could not confirm, “We don’t have signed contracts in our hands.”
SweetWater is also targeting Virginia entry this quarter.
In other news, the next Dank Tank beer will come in late summer, according to the newsletter. “No details yet on the name, but we can tell ya it’s a Belgian Strong Pale.”
Well, that’s good news/bad news for KY. On the good side, at least we’re getting some Sweetwater. On the bad side, KY Eagle doesn’t distribute outside of Lexington and Louisville, so the other 95% of the state, again, won’t get to even sniff the stuff.
Don’t know that this is the *only* distributor they will end up partnering with. Only said in the piece that it is *a* distributor.
