Press Release:
(San Francisco, CA) – Speakeasy Ales & Lagers today announced the release of their newest limited series beer, Butchertown Black Ale. The unique beer is a play on the senses—Butchertown pours black as night, with a deceivingly lighter body than the color would indicate, and a dry-hopping regiment more akin to an IPA than a stout or porter.
“Butchertown pays tribute to the old neighborhood in San Francisco where the Speakeasy brewery stands today,” says Brandon Borgel, Director of Sales and Marketing. “The nearby Islais Creek was once home to over 16 slaughterhouses, and Butchertown was a thriving neighborhood until shipbuilding took over on the waterfront.”
Adds Brewmaster Kushal Hall, “This is our way of delivering something big for the summer. Flavors of grapefruit, pine, currants and red wine come through before overturning to a malt depth intricacy of dark toasted bread, pumpernickel, subtle notes of dark fruits and hints of dark chocolate, tobacco and leather.”
Butchertown will be available in 22 oz. bottles and on draft in select craft beer bars across California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Illinois, New York, New Jersey and Washington DC. Butchertown will be fading out in September to make way for Speakeasy’s next limited series beer, Betrayal Imperial Red.
Speakeasy Ales & Lagers has been crafting unique and exceptional beers in San Francisco since 1997. Using its original steam-fired brewhouse, Speakeasy operates out of a warehouse in San Francisco’s long forgotten Butchertown District.
