Rosa Hibiscus Ale is nearing the end of her season. We’ll still have her available on draft for the next few weeks. Grab Rosa cans off the shelves while you can. Our next seasonal can, Oktoberfest, is coming soon.
The end of Rosa and the coming of Oktoberfest also signal the return of big, dark beer season. Today we’re releasing E. Norma Gene, a barrel-aged version of our Hugene imperial porter, and the matriarch of our “Gene Pool.” A new Gene family member, Boy Gene, featuring boysenberries, is gestating in bourbon barrels right now.
Also look for Deth’s Tar in mid-September. A play on Josh’s name, this Russian imperial stout is aged in four different types of bourbon barrels (Old Fitzgerald, Old Forester, Elijah Craig, and Evan Williams), then blended for the resulting thick and dark brew. We’ll do a release day in the tap room (more details to come) as well as a wide release in 22-ounce bottles and draft. Four kegs of Deth’s Tar’s precursor were held back and will be released as Alderaan in mid-August.
Save the date for Labor Day weekend. We’re signed on for a new street fest to be held right outside our brewpub, on Milwaukee Avenue between California and Fullerton. The two-day fest will feature live music, food from local restaurants, art vendors, and of course our brews. Stay tuned for updates!
