Lakewood Brewing aims to brew 4,000 barrels in first full calendar year
When Wim Bens started making beer in his garage a few years ago, he didn’t envision that he’d eventually be sitting in a former carpet warehouse discussing the finer points of barley and hops as a businessman-brewer. Yet here he is, doing exactly that. A native of Belgium whose family brought him to Texas when he was seven years old, Bens left a career in advertising to become a full-time craft-beer maker, and this year his still-young brewery is hoping to complete 4,000 barrels of 31 gallons each.
