Lagunitas Brewing attempted to trademark ‘420’ logo but abandoned it

Worth noting in this context…

And of course the man who made a quarter of a million barrels of beer last year and may come close to doubling that this year had to add a bit of back-yard philosophy: “Anyone that’d trademark 420 must b bereft,” Magee tweeted. “S’posed t be counterculture.”

…some late info surfaces from a tipster that Lagunitas did, indeed, try to trademark ‘420’ (at least as a logo) within the past two years before abandoning it.

  1. Read more carefully Adam… If you looked at the actual patent office app you’d see that we were applying to TM the ‘art’ and not the words. The art is a very different thing. It was the patent office that de IRS the art because of the sW TM. I could have right then and there claimed prior use but I decided that it was wrong to purse it. Are you just trying to start a new argument?

  2. No new argument. Just thought it was relevant to the matter so I passed it along. I think we all agree that it’s yesterday’s news at this point so moving along now. Thanks.
