(Denver, CO) – The Brewers Association is going over the waitlist of breweries for this year’s Great American Beer Festival.
On July 9th, registration opened up to breweries vying to be in this year’s event and the window closed in less than two hours. The result was over 600 breweries getting in but over 300 breweries being waitlisted.
Some breweries on the outside were still sharing the bad news this week.
Says Six Rivers Brewing on Twitter, “We are sorry to say after 17 years GABF, we join over 300 other breweries that have been waitlisted for this years event. Stay tuned.”
Others are slowly being let off the waitlist.
The L.A. Times reports, “By the end of last week, the Brewers Association had removed some unverified breweries from the registration roll and both Golden Road and Eagle Rock received calls offering them spots to the festival.”
Shmaltz Brewing announced this week that it will be at the event after previously being waitlisted.
NoDa Brewing, which actually won a silver medal in last year’s competition, also told BeerPulse this week that they are off the waitlist. They will pour and enter four beers.
While that leaves hope for others, the process may be a slow one.
Denver Westword reported on Friday reports, “it may be several weeks before the BA finishes reviewing its list of breweries – and notifying breweries on the wait list — and releases it publicly.”
