(Brooklyn Center, MN) – The latest from Surly Brewing Co., courtesy of Monday’s email newsletter…

We’re celebrating seven years of Surly Brewing this year, which means we have another anniversary beer on the way. For 2013, our head brewer Todd Haug raided Trappist traditions to brew up a Belgian-style ale called SEVIIN, using Belgian yeast, rye, oats and wheat. We’ll be releasing the new beer in June.
In the meantime, check out the bottle artwork* for Seviin, which was a collaboration between local artist Brent Schoonover and Todd.
(*This is the real artwork. Honest. We’ve learned our lesson from the last time. No more unicorn pranks.)
The snow’s finally gone, which means two things – we’re already rocking shorts and it’s time for the release of Bitter Brewer, our English-style bitter.
Bitter Brewer will be hitting select stores and bars starting today, Monday, May 13, and tonight we’re going to be celebrating the release at Republic at Calhoun Square in Uptown Minneapolis, from 5pm until 9pm. They’ll be pouring $5 pints of Bitter Brewer along with Cynic, Hell, Furious, Coffee Bender and Diminished Seviin.
