Greg Zeschuk, host of The Beer Diaries, visits the Independence Brewing Company of Austin, Texas, to talk to Rob and Amy Cartwright (the husband and wife team behind the brewery) and David Hinkle, the Operations Manager at the brewery. Independence is one of the older operating breweries in Austin, and is responsible for a number of mainstay Austin beers such as Austin Amber, Stash IPA and Bootlegger Brown, as well as a number of new experimental beers.
We discuss the challenge of starting a brewery before craft beer had really caught on, and the opportunities presented by the incredible growth of craft beer.
