(Longmont, CO) – Mobile Canning appeared on the Colorado Craft Beer Show on Saturday to discuss what they are doing and some new brands that they have picked up.
Mobile Canning enables breweries that either can’t afford or choose not to get their own canning lines to be able to can their beer. The company comes to the brewery with the cans, sets up its “mobile” equipment and cans the beer. Labeling is also handled by Mobile Canning (presumably through heat/shrink-wrapping). The company is currently sourcing ‘blank’ cans from Ball Corporation though it is in the process of exploring other options, one of the founders noted.
The company is capable of doing up to 450 cases a day but will sometimes go as low as 50 cases in a single run.
Mobile Canning opened in 2011 and at least a few companies providing similar services have opened in the U.S. within the past year or two.
So who is Mobile Canning already working with?
Boulder Beer Co., Crystal Spring, Crabtree, Pateros Creek, Bonfire and Renegade, among others.
Joining them soon will be Big Choice Brewing which will start canning early next month.
Coming in April will be Redstone Meadery and River North. River North, who just turned one, is awaiting approval on two labels. Redstone’s mead will be made available in 500ml cans.
