(Fort Collins, CO) – New Belgium Brewing Co. dropped a pretty big hint on its Twitter feed earlier in the week regarding Florida. Turns out there was something to it.
Company spokesman, Bryan Simpson, tells BeerPulse that the brewery will enter its 32nd state this summer though it hasn’t finalized contracts. Simpson expects them to be finalized by late spring.
They will ship to Florida statewide beginning in late July, starting out with only 22 oz. bottles before rolling out 12 oz. bottles/cans and draft. This echoes a similar strategy employed by New Belgium in other states and even other craft brewers like Firestone Walker and Boulevard Brewing.
Starting with 22’s gives drinkers a chance at more sampling opportunities as they get acquainted with the brand, says Simpson, as well as the ability to do so at a smaller investment.
Earlier in the day, the company announced its plans for launch in Alaska and Louisiana this spring.
