A-B InBev tops USA Today Ad Meter with Clydesdale spot, results echo last year

budweiser twitter clydesdaleA-B InBev won the so-called Brand Bowl on Sunday with the evening’s top-rated commercial, an extended spot featuring the bond between a Budweiser Clydesdale and its owner.

USA Today has changed the scoring system for its popular ‘Ad Meter’ from 2012 so there is no way to compare scores between the two years but A-B InBev also scored high marks last year with its ‘Here Weego’ spot, which finished in second.

Also, like last year, A-B InBev’s new product launch commercials for Budweiser Black Crown and Beck’s Sapphire scored in the bottom five of all ads that ran during the game. Two Bud Light Platinum spots achieved the same result in 2012 though they helped ABI achieve its goal with higher-than-forecasted sales.
