(San Diego, CA) – Ballast Point Brewing surprised its Facebook fans on Tuesday with news of a new canning line.
“Nolan our Packaging Manager has been a very good boy this year and Santa brought him an early gift…a canning line!! Yes, soon (three months or so) you will be able to sip your favorite Ballast Point beer in locations that are not glass friendly……can designs coming soon….hmmmm, what to can first? Perhaps something like (Sculpin IPA)….brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “nice cans”….”
The company added in comments that it will first distribute cans in the SoCal market and then expand.
“Looks like the line up will be Sculpin, Pale Ale and Longfin to start…..”
The can design shown here has not been finalized.
Awesome. Sculpin cans on the beach in Hawaii would be perfect.
I for one, would like to be the first person on earth to shotgun a sculpin. Done.

I think they’re sharp looking cans. I think they should have gotten rid of the detailed fish logos and went with silhouettes of the different fish that are featured for each beer. The current logos look a little too busy (there’s a better word that I’m failing to find). I think the type facing on the brewery name along with different colored banners for each beer would make for stronger branding.
Only my opinion, but I think the detailed logos lures the customer in…
