(Placentia, CA) – The Bruery announced the release of two new bottled beers in Thursday’s newsletter. More below…

Tonight (Thursday night) we will be having our first ‘Meet the Brewer’ night. This event, which was created to allow some of our incredibly talented brewers to get wild and crazy in the brewhouse, will be happening about once a month. This month we asked Mike Wooldridge, one of our newest brewers, to come up with a traditionally made cask conditioned ale. Mike took the project to heart and created a specially hopped and extra oaked version of Loakal Red. Only about 5 gallons of this beer was made, so get in early if you want some. Mike will be around to answer any of your questions from 5-6 PM today. We strongly suggest someone ask about his very cool custom RV.
Besides meeting Mike, the big news this weekend is the Friday release of two brand-spankin’-new sour beers. The first beer is Rueuze, our take on the traditional Belgian-style blend of lambics of different ages. We carefully selected a number of oak barrels from our warehouse that have been aging our sour blonde ale to blend this delightfully complex 5.8% ABV beer.
The second beer is Ichigo Highway, a collaborative beer that we created with Hangar 24 Brewing from Redlands, CA. The base style is a sessionable sour red ale that we aged in oak barrels along with a significant amount of strawberries, most of which were picked from the fields besides Hangar 24’s brewery. Aged for approximately 8 months, that beer has developed a pleasant funk and acidity that is balanced by the intensely sweet aroma and flavor of the strawberries as well as a unique dryness achieved by using a sake yeast along with our house strain as well as souring bacteria. Bottles of Ichigo Highway and Rueuze are already available and draft will be available when we open at 2 PM on Friday!
We’d also like to remind you that our canned food drive is still going as well. By donating a can you can get access to some special brews that we normally wouldn’t have on draft. This weekend 2011 Melange #3 and 2011 Oude Tart will be available to anyone that brings in a can to help out the cause! For this month we would love to see our bar top overflowing with not only beer but donations to a good cause.
