Flying Dog ST. EADman Belgian Dark Ale bottles coming to Brewhouse Rarities series

Flying Dog ST. EADman Belgian Dark Ale

(Frederick, MD) – Flying Dog Brewery has a new beer coming to the Brewhouse Rarities series…and it is going to be bottled.

Flying Dog ST. EADman Belgian Dark Ale is named after the famous Gonzo-style artist, Ralph Steadman, the man behind all the label artwork for Flying Dog. The label features a self-portrait by the man himself as well as a quote from Steadman’s late friend, Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. “Don’t draw, Ralph. It’s a filthy habit!”

Here is the copy from Flying Dog accompanying this beer:

It’s a filthy habit indeed, our dear Ralph, filled with scamps, tramps, and sick and twisted souls. But we love you for it.

Our Dark Belgian Strong has bright fruity esters of pears and strawberries blending with caramel malt character and brown fruit notes of dried tart cherries and plums. ST. EADman is complex and sweet with a dry finish, just like the man it honors.

Flying Dog ST. EADman will be hand-packaged in bottle-conditioned 750ml bottles and available on draft for a limited time only. The brewery has not yet released availability information.

St. EADman will be shipped from the brewery at the beginning of November and on shelves by mid-November.

Both draft and 750 ml bottles will be readily available in our core markets of Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC. Pennsylvania and New Jersey will have more limited availability of each and New York will have it on draft only.

Beer stats:

ABV: 10% ABV, 35 IBUs
Hops: Northern Brewer, Hallertau Mittelfruh
Specialty malts: Malteries Franco-Belges Pale Ale, Malteries Franco-Belgo Cara-Vienna and Castle Special B.

It will be the second bottling of a Brewhouse Rarities beer thus far with Disobedience Abbey Dubbel being the first, released this past spring.
