Blue Moon getting more crafty with Vintage Ale, Graffiti and Expressionist collections

(Golden, CO) – Blue Moon Brewing Co. Brewmaster, Keith Villa, revealed a bunch of news items on a Google+ Hangout at the Great American Beer Festival.

Blue Moon Proximity Wheat AleThe Vintage Ale Collection will return next month with new branding but will still be packaged in 750ml bottles. Villa made it sound as if both of the following beers will be released in November: Proximity, a wheat ale brewed with “the juice of Sauvignon Blanc grapes,” and Impulse, a wheat ale brewed with “the juice of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.” Villa describes the flavor as “sparkling chardonnay with a hint of beer.”

Blue Moon Graffiti Tongue Thaied FrontBlue Moon Grand Cru, as previously reported, is on hiatus though Villa said they’ll bring it back in “another couple years.” Consider the beer was brewed initially due to a blue moon falling on New Year’s Eve it wouldn’t be surprising to see its return coincide with the next blue moon in July, 2015 (note: yes, there was one this year, too).

Villa also made mention of two upcoming lines: the Graffiti Collection and the Expressionist Collection.

Blue Moon Pine in the Neck Double IPAThe Graffiti Collection will be packaged in 22 oz. bottles and includes: Tongue Thai-ed Ale, brewed with lemongrass & basil and Pine in the Neck Double IPA, brewed with Juniper berries. He also mentioned a cherry imperial stout and that there “will be a bunch of other beers” in this series.

The Expressionist Collection, meanwhile, will feature a Belgian Pale Ale and a Farmhouse Red Ale, according to Villa. A source told BeerPulse this week that Rounder will be the name of the pale ale and Short Straw will be the name of the Farmhouse Red Ale.

  1. Christ almighty, graffiti collection? Goddamned corporate bozos, at the very least they could hire an actual graffiti artist to do the label. These labels are embarrassing, some cheesedick graphic designer got paid a lot for some fake-ass baloney.

  5. Very disappointed. Soapy. That’s it….
Super soapy. I’d like to blame it on Costco but they just stock it…
