Beer tax issue comes to a head this week in UK parliament
Many pubs have been unable to survive in the recent economic climate. Six thousand have closed in the past four years. It is causing so much concern that more than 100,000 people have signed an online petition urging the government to scrap the escalator. The petition has been organised by the beer campaign group CAMRA.
