Sponsored Press Release:
(Houston, TX) – Flying Saucer Draught Emporium today announced it has raised more than $13,000 in the first two weeks of a fundraising campaign to benefit Pints for Prostates, surpassing its expected midway goal. All 15 Saucer locations continue to raise funds for the organization until July 21.
Flying Saucer teamed up with Pints for Prostates for a four-week “Belgian Beer Month” promotion designed to reach men through the universal language of beer. Each Wednesday, as part of its popular “Brewery Night,” Flying Saucer locations feature a different Belgian-style beer with the brand’s signature logo glassware. The first 144 people at each location receive the glass of the week and a pour of the featured beer, with 100 percent of price of the glass going to support Pints for Prostates.
“This partnership has been a great opportunity to spread important awareness about prostate cancer to a large, targeted audience of men, while also raising money for the cause,” said Sam Wynne, assistant beer director at Flying Saucer Draught Emporium. “We had an idea of how much we hoped to raise over the entire four-week promotion, but we are thrilled to be able to increase our expectations after this encouraging two-week report.”
To add to the excitement of the fundraising nights, patrons may also enter to win a drawing for a Pints for Prostates Belgian Beer Tour for two to Belgium from Sept. 7-15, 2012.
The tour, organized by BeerTrips.com, includes roundtrip airfare for two from anywhere in the continental U.S.; seven nights lodging in Brussels, Brugge and Gent; tours of famous breweries, including Chimay, Cantillon and Moortgat; escorted café crawls; guided city tours; daily breakfast; three beer dinners; two beer lunches; plus train and private coach transportation. The total value of the trip for two is estimated at $6,500. The drawing will be held on July 21 at Flying Saucer’s Charlotte location. The prize is non-transferable, and no cash substitute will be offered. The winner and his/her guest are responsible for obtaining passports and all trip-related costs not outlined above. You must be 21 or older to enter. No purchase is necessary. Visit Flanders and Delta Air Lines are donating roundtrip tickets for the trip. Beer brands supporting the promotion at Flying Saucer include Chimay, Blanche de Bruxelles, Timmermans and Maredsous.

The group was founded by prostate cancer survivor and beer writer Rick Lyke in 2008. The grassroots effort raises awareness among men about the importance of regular health screenings and PSA testing by making appearances at beer festivals, social networking and pro bono advertising. About BeerTrips.com
BeerTrips.com was founded in 1998 to offer serious beer people the opportunity to travel to the world’s best beer destinations with other people who love great beer. Beer and travel, travel and beer — these are two of our favorite things. Both, in our estimation, are worth a fair amount of life’s energy. Our goal, and our very reason for existing, is to take our travelers to the best beer destinations, drink, taste and enjoy the best beers, meet the beer-loving people of the countries we visit, and explore the history, culture, art and architecture of the interesting places where beer “grew up”. To do this, we stay in nice, well-located hotels, eat at great restaurants that emphasize beer in their fare, and visit breweries, brew pubs, cafes and museums that enhance our understanding and appreciation of beer and its rich history and culture.
