Westbrook Brett and No Mices Red Wine Barrel-aged Ale arrives

Westbrook Brett and No Mices Red Wine Barrel-aged Ale(Charleston, SC) – Westbrook Brett & No Mices Ale lands this week. Here is the scoop from the Charleston Beer Exchange newsletter. Sounds like growlers only for now…

Just in the nick of time to kick your holiday off right, one of the most highly anticipated beers of the year will be arriving on our growler station! Well, at least most highly anticipated if you are fans of CBX antics, Brandon “Old Time” Plyler and matters of that nature.

You may have heard rumors of this one coming. It’s finally here! The fine folks at Westbrook Brewing were inspired by CBX manager Brandon’s unique pronunciation of a certain wild yeast called Brettanomyces. Following that lead, they took a Belgian-style pale ale and aged it in used red wine barrels with a healthy does of Brett to funk it up. The final creation is a 6.5% ABV wild ale with winey, earthy and slightly tart notes and the utmost of elegance and complexity. This is magnificent stuff and only a very limited amount could be made.

We’ll be offering growlers starting at 5pm tomorrow (Tuesday 7/3) on a first come first served basis. If you are a fan of wine barrel aged beers, wild ales or even just Plyler, don’t miss this!
