(Alexandria, VA) – Just a few days ago, Port City Brewing expected this past Sunday to be a celebration of its expansion and new tasting room. What it got instead was a rude awakening from Mother Nature.
Port City closed on Friday and remained that way as of Monday morning due to a storm that wiped out power at the brewery. A series of storms left over two million customers without power.
Our power is out. We are closed until further notice. Y’all stay safe!

Update: there is no change in our situation. We haven’t seen any progress at all. No trucks, no workers.
We will update here if any change— Port City Brewing Co (@PortCityBrew) July 1, 2012
Wires down behind brewery. We have seen no progress. @DomVAPower says they have dispatched but we have seen nothing. http://t.co/qJg3oZZo

We tried to go to the reopening of Port City’s tasting room on Sunday at 12 PM, but were met with a flyer on the door telling us they were closed. Apparently they will now be selling fresh beer by the pint.
