(Bellaire, MI) – As BeerPulse first reported in June, Short’s Brewing embarked on a $2 million expansion that took up much of July. The expansion, which the brewery just announced it has completed, will nearly double brewing capacity to around 30,000 barrels. The company issued a few progress updates over the past few weeks.
The project took nearly six months of “intense planning,” the brewery wrote in a June 27th update. It included the installation of sixteen brand new 90-barrel conditioning tanks/fermenters through a hatch in the company’s roof. Short’s also added a new mill and grain handling system, a new packaging area floor, new administrative offices, a new lab, as well as new hard lines feeding all of the tanks.
Despite working day and night on the project for more than three weeks, the company pledged that there would be no disruption to the beer or release schedule.
