Coopers Brewery celebrates 150th anniversary this year
Thomas Cooper initially supplied his bottled ales and stouts to private customers and refused to deal with pubs; indeed, the family-run brewery only got around to kegging its product in 1987. After being based in suburban Leabrook for the best part of 140 years, Coopers relocated to a new brewing plant at Regency Park in 2001. Since then it has enjoyed a spike in sales volumes, which led to an unwelcome and, ultimately, unsuccessful takeover bid by Lion Nathan in 2007.
Worth noting, the Coopers Celebration Ale bottle has not been approved by the TTB in the U.S. (yet).
