Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream® is proud to welcome a new craft brewer to the program! Rich Szydlo, founder of Big Shoulders Beer Company is an extremely passionate brewer who is just getting his brewery off the ground in Chicago. He has many years of homebrewing experience and after working for years in film production and finance, Rich returned to the job he truly liked the most: bartending. While trying to figure out how to leverage his experience in the bar business, it came to him: “Hey, if I can make my own beer, why can’t I sell my own beer?” Today, Big Shoulders Beer Company celebrates Rich’s deep love and commitment to the city where he grew up – Chicago!
Rich plans to use the loan he has received from the Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream program to officially brew his first batch for distribution. His starting lineup will include Crosstown Wheat, an unfiltered wheat brewed with lemongrass and coriander as well as Hopapalooza IPA.
