Henderson County reaching deep into rainy day funds after Sierra Nevada incentive deal

Not to place blame Sierra Nevada but the report implies that their incentive deal complicates budget issues for Henderson County over the next few years. It goes without saying that the Sierra Nevada deal will ultimately benefit the county positively from a revenue standpoint.

The plan calls for drawing about $3.2 million from the account next year, about $4.1 million in 2013-14 and about $3.3 million the following year. That would leave about $1.9 million of total available fund balance (over 12 percent), compared to the $12.5 million that existed at the start of the current budget cycle. This does not include the about $2.7 million in economic incentives that commissioners approved last year for Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. “As Mr. Wyatt clearly pointed out,” board Vice Chairman Bill O’Connor said, “budget year 2016 is Armageddon by this plan.

  1. “Not to place blame Sierra Nevada but the report implies that the incentive deal that the company is getting complicates budget issues for Henderson County over the next few years.”

Holy run on sentence! The sentence is missing a few punctuation marks and a preposition. Get an editor.

  2. If anything, it was wordy. Not sure what punctuation I was missing. How about this…
