Brooklyn’s Hindy and Captain Lawrence’s Vaccaro on NY beer tax
Inside City Hall’s Errol Louis asked Steve Hindy, the founder of Brooklyn Brewery and Scott Vaccaro, the founder of Captain Lawrence Brewing Company why they deserve a state tax break.
Hindy notes that he cut a $50,000 check for the new taxes in April and that 45% of the cost of Brooklyn Summer Ale is tax paid at various levels. The pair are up in Albany this week to work with state legislators to get NY brewers some tax relief. They only have a few weeks to do so before the current legislative session ends.
