Breckenridge looks to build new $15 mil brewery on east coast after Colorado says ‘no’
So, in a legislative session that both parties have said is about creating jobs, the failure to pass HB 1347 will do just that — for 50 to 75 people on the other side of the country, where the brewery now will look to make its $15 million investment that it was hoping to make here. “We’re all about Colorado, and we would have preferred to build a big brewery in Colorado,” Cerkovnik said.
Breweries: Breckenridge Brewery
Why would CO say no. This is unacceptable CO. Why would you scare off a very reputable brewery from opening a new brewery in CO? They’ve already got 2 sites, why not more? Its an expanding company and expansion doesn’t always work when your landlocked and can’t buy anymore surrounding buildings. I say let them do it. Screw Cali. No offense Cali but CO beer is for CO as Cali is for Cali. I’m sure Cali wouldn’t want Anchor to open up a brewery in CO.
Maybe another one to Asheville?
Hmmmm, I heard Asheville is a solid spot for opening a multi-million dollar brewery…
Justin-if Colorado said yes to Breck, then it would have opened the door to grocery store sales, which has the potential to destroy the colorado beer culture (limited selection in chains, using nat’l data to choose shelf sets, etc) This is a great example of keeping Colorado, Colorado. If Breck wants to be a brew pub, this is the sacrifice they have to make. Let’s hope they will help elevate the beer scene on the east coast
Elevate the beer scene on the East Coast? Ha! We’re doing just fine. Thanks.
