Maui Brewing planning expansion, second brewpub

(Lahaina, Maui, HI) – Two reports came out yesterday discussing Maui Brewing‘s future expansion plans. Taste Terminal essentially broke the news (but buried the lede with the title, “Hawaii craft beer culture with Maui Brewing Co.’s Garrett Marrero”).

Within the two years, we expect to have a second brewpub location open on Maui along with being under construction with a new production brewery. We’re out of room here and need the room to expand and better meet our current orders, let alone develop new markets. Within five years we expect to be in the 40 – 50K barrel range and continue on brewing our authentic Hawaiian beer.

Brewbound followed up with more details.

It will boast an initial capacity of 40,000 barrels and is capable of being scaled to over 100,000. The project, which Marrero estimates will cost between $10 and $15 million, is being fueled by existing cash flow and bank loans.

Both very worthy of a read.

Strangely enough, Maui hasn’t spread the news on its social media accounts yet, instead sending out a press release for an upcoming collaboration beer with Jolly Pumpkin.

Guess they’re humble in Hawaii…
