(Bend, OR) – The mystery around the name of a new Oregon brewery could be revealed soon.
Former Deschutes Brewery Brewmaster, Larry Sidor, is starting a new brewery, currently under construction in Bend. The tail end of a video that surfaced last week says that the company will reveal its name as early as this week.
Sidor left Deschutes at the end of last year so that he could start up what is temporarily known as Yet To Be Named Brewing. He is flanked by Paul Evers of tbd Advertising, a company that has done marketing for 21st Amendment and Odell Brewing, as well as Dave Wilson, 21st Amendment Sales Director.
In an unusual move, Yet to be Named raised $1.1 million from investors last year, signed a lease and had an Oregon brewing license approved all under the temporary name, 856 Brewing. The official website for the company is Yettobenamedbrewery.com. Oregon approved the license in early March, just three months before the brewery is slated to open.
The brewery sits on 1.5 acres on 50 SW Division Street. Per Biz Journals, “The 6,000-square-foot brewery will have a 1,000-square-foot tasting room, including guest taps. It will have a maximum production capacity of 10,000 barrels. It expects to produce 700 barrels in 2012.”
