Report: New Belgium eyeing Asheville property for East Coast location
Sources say the old livestock yard on Craven street has been visited by New Belgium officials in recent days. The site is now being rezoned by its owners from Urban Village back to a less restrictive River District. A public hearing was scheduled to hear the re-zoning request this evening (Wednesday). News 13 has also learned that the owner of the old tobacco warehouse property adjacent to the stockyard has a sales contract on the property. The owner would not say who it is that made the purchase offer. People who rent space at the stockyard say there’s been a lot of activity at the property in recent weeks and they’ve all heard talk that it’s to prepare the site for New Belgium.
