(Boston, MA) – Harpoon Brewery Co-Founder and CEO, Rich Doyle, was on the By the Glass radio show on Thursday evening and answered a few questions for the crew.
– Harpoon is aiming to produce (and sell) 200,000 barrels this year and it plans to do so in its existing markets. Beers are currently available in 26 states and they are not looking to add any new markets this year. 15% projected growth for a 200k bbl/year brewery without adding markets. Not bad.
– They are right up against functional capacity of around 200k-225k barrels so they will have to add tanks before long
– Fast-growing markets include Florida (where the show is based), Texas and New England (where Harpoon is based)
– On cider, they are planning to experiment with aging their cider in oak barrels and experiment with different varieties of apples
