Canadian union says hockey players in Budweiser flash mob commercial were stiffed

(Toronto, Ontario, CANADA) – Budweiser Canada, distributed by Labatt, aired a flash mob hockey commercial in Canada during the Super Bowl, one that has now received over 3.5 million views on Youtube. The National Post and other media outlets are now reporting that there is some trouble brewing between Bud Canada/Labatt and an actors’ union.

The teams’ players are owed at least $3,215.15 each, with an extra $537.85 given to players who appeared in short follow-up interviews, according to the union. ACTRA also noted that had the union been notified, the players would “have had the protection of a qualified professional stunt co-ordinator.”

In a release, Labatt claimed that striking a union agreement ahead of time would have eliminated the surprise.

  1. F^&* Budweiser, that’s not beer anymore, it’s corn/rice syrup with some water and yeast, and yeah, that’s not the only way to tell that they’re the cheapest bastids around. on the other hand, fuck that union, you think they gave a shit about those guys/ No way! just a way to collect more money, from non-union members to boot! and Bud is basically a union represented company. they deserve each other!
