(Chico, CA) – Sent a note over to Sierra Nevada Brewing Communications Coordinator, Bill Manley, today. Just asked a couple questions since the news releases sent out early this afternoon covered a lot of ground.

On New Belgium (which has been looking around in some of the same places as SN):

We honestly have had very little conversation with New Belgium. Ken [Grossman, Founder/Owner] and Kim [Jordan, New Belgium Co-Founder/CEO] have spoken, but I truly think it was a surprise to both companies that we were looking in the same areas. We’ve got a great relationship with New Belgium and we say “the more the merrier.” Asheville has got such a great craft beer scene. We think it’d be great to have even more great beer in one area.

On what is next:

It’s hard to say. We’re eager to break ground ASAP and after that there will be months and months of construction before the brewery is up and running. We don’t have an architect or an engineer yet, so all of our renderings are very much preliminary. We’ve already been working with a brewing engineering consultant to help us get the brewhouse and cellars designed. We’re working to get some time-lapse photography and [send out] some updates during construction.
