The world’s first ‘honorary yeast strain?’
Dogfish Head produced a Delaware-centric beer that it calls Delaware Native Ale (DNA). Instead of calling it Delaware’s official beer, the governor did the next best thing…
During the announcement, Gov. Jack Markell presented a proclamation which declared the strain of yeast used for the brew, DNA KA1, as Delaware’s honorary yeast strain because of the collaboration between the organizations in the state.
Calagione said he will share the yeast strain used to ferment DNA available to breweries within Delaware who wish to use it.
