Kräftig maker aiming to be the next two million-barrel brewery

kraftig million barrels

Easily one of the more fascinating reads of the year…

Kräftig has already brewed 7,200 barrels, or about 100,000 cases. It aims to brew 2 million barrels every year, the bulk at a brewing facility it plans to build in St. Louis within three years. Hoffmeister, the company’s chief executive, mentions “4 or 5 million barrels” as if that were almost a given. […]

So far, wholesalers and consumers are responding to the brand. After two weeks, Kräftig is in 25 percent of the stores, restaurants and bars in the St. Louis region, outpacing the company’s projections of 25 percent in the first month.

There’s a bunch of stuff in there about Billy Busch’s personal life, too, like that one time he bit off a guy’s ear during a bar fight.

  1. At least they’re honest enough to admit they aren’t trying to be craft beer. This brew, although not bad, is designed for the BudMillerCoors crowd. I’ll be interested in trying it again once it is brewed locally.

  2. Wholesalers are responding because of the heavy incentives Busch is paying. Consumers are responding because of the Christmas color packaging and because he is a Busch. Beyond that, it’s not a special beer by any means.

  4. Is this the same group with law suit from Agency they have not paid?
And, have not yet paid their Public Relations firm as well?

Not a good model for relations?
