Gambrinus brewmaster moving on to new startup, Susquehanna Brewing
Pretty big personnel shakeup in the industry.
The brewery owners were able to lure Jurado away from San Antonio, Texas-based Gambrinus Co., the sixth largest beer company in the United States, which includes the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas, the Bridgeport Brewing Co. in Portland, Ore., and Trumer Brauerei of Berkeley, Calif. He has been director of brewing operations at Gambrinus since 1997.
Despite being a startup operation, Susquehanna Brewing is armed with industry veterans at the management level. The company is aiming to brew 100,000 barrels a year. Even if it can achieve the mark within several years, it would be the fastest to do so.
