Washington beer community united against I-1183?

Ballot initiative I-1183 is easily the most controversial item up for vote in today’s general election in Washington. You can probably do a Google search for more background but the short of it is that, if approved, Washington’s liquor business would go from being state-run to privatized (I realize that’s over-simplifying it). The initiative has earned some national attention, in large part, due to Costco investing over $20 million to lobby for I-1183’s passage.

Washington Beer Blog’s Kendall Jones is against the initiative and found others in the beer community to be on his side. Jones posted input from figureheads across the three tiers on his blog last week. So, is the beer community really this unanimous against I-1183?

  1. I’d say it’s far from United. Seems to be some for and some against as will every initiative, not really a call to arms.
