(Portland, OR) – If there was anything we learned from the forums this past week, it’s that limited releases have become downright chaotic. Who wants to go in the limited release event consulting business?
Last weekend, Hair of the Dog Brewing held an anniversary release. I won’t rehash what went down. You can read all about it on Beer Advocate and RateBeer. Here’s the summary courtesy of the Portland Beer and Music blog.

I can say that I am truly touched by the out pouring of emotions after my Anniversary Sale. The fact that people are upset that they could not get something I made, really hits at the heart of my motivation. I always wanted to make something that people liked, and now they don’t like me because of it. I was surprised by the turnout, and sold twice as much Beer as I expected. It is a sign that craft Beer is becoming more mainstream, and will be harder to get in the future. I was upfront about sales limits and the time to get in line, well before the sale. I can also say that I have no plans to expand my production much and feel that it is nice to be able to have a whole case to share and enjoy for years to come. What have I learned? I am still trying to figure that out, give me some time, it is hard for old dogs to learn new tricks.
