Report: Virginia’s Montgomery County out in Sierra Nevada search
“Montgomery County is no longer under consideration for the Sierra Nevada project,” county spokeswoman Ruth Richey said in an Oct. 27 email.
Online outdoor retailer Backcountry.com announced Oct. 11 that it plans to build a distribution center in the county’s Falling Branch Industrial Park. It turns out that was the site that Sierra Nevada was considering.
No other site in Virginia had been reported as a candidate so this might mean that all of Virginia is out. Sierra Nevada’s Bill Manley told the paper that “several states” are still involved at this point. Tennessee and North Carolina are the only other states that have been mentioned in news reports thus far.
