(Milton, DE) – Dogfish Head and Google have formed a unique partnership around a new beer that went on tap yesterday, URKontinent.
The video above discusses how the two sides collaborated on the beer, both on the brewing end of things and on the software end of things (using Google’s collaboration tools, of course). Read the full specs over at Dogfish’s website.
Though this beer, “brewed in the style of a Belgian Dubbel,” is currently only a brewpub exclusive, Dogfish Head El Presidente, Sam Calagione, hints that it may not be for long.
We do a little test batch, serve it to the people that come to our pub, listen to them and then tweak that next recipe. That’s how a beer moves from an idea at Dogfish to national distribution.
That’s what will happen with URKontinent. We’ll get this test batch ready to serve in about a month [now – video shot a month ago] and then if people dig it, we’ll put it out in bottles about four months after that.
Stay tuned.
DFH should team up with a fireworks company and make a beer using black powder. They can write up some sickening diatribe about how “explosive” the flavors are.
I love how they actually tried to say the two companies are alike. One is a frighteningly powerful global powerhouse hellbent on unparalleled control of information and the takeover of society. And the other is a brewery. Just because you have whacky shit on your campus lawn doesn’t make your companies alike.
If you didn’t laugh at this video and this idea you should have your head examined. “Dogfish Head — Tons of stuff in beer, chosen at random.”
Wow, haters gonna hate…
JS –
u mad bro?
Drink good beer.
Yeah. Besides, Google is just a collective of geeks and investors that like to get there hands in everything. It was only a matter of time before they turned to beer. But because they try everything and are very good at what they do doesnt mean theyre the only option out there. Google cant plow over every craft beer company is this country any more than bud or miller can.
JS,
Maybe you should go back and listen again to why the two companies are alike. Your analogy is ridiculous. Troll somewhere else.
I’m not entirely sure what your comment of “Drink good beer” means in the context of this video or my comment. You should have put at least a femtosecond worth of thought into your response. As opposed to just some idiotic meme quote, trying to be funny.
I don’t care for DFH beers, as I’m sure you have a list of beers you don’t care for. Stay at the kid’s table for a little while longer. We’ll talk about it when you’re older.
JS,
It’s perfectly fine you don’t like DFH beers but that’s no reason to crap all over two great companies that treat their employees well and have fun at the same time.
Until you have tasted the beer, your comments are worthless.
Again, you’re a troll. Get over it.

DFH makes amazing, innovative, interesting beers. And I think people like @JS are just mad because they don’t think there should be anything available with flavor. Stick to your Miller and we’ll stick to quality.
I think its weird that Google and DFH collabed on a beer but I’m not gonna hate. Something new from DFH is always welcome in my world. Especially something that sounds as interesting as this. I hope it sees distribution.
I want to try this beer more than I’ve ever wanted to try a beer before in my life.
Very interesting video; I hope to hear more about this project.
