(San Antonio, TX) – Here is part of a recent newsletter update from Freetail Brewing…
Fall is one of my favorite times of year for beer selection, especially in our part of the country. Still warm enough to enjoy some refreshing brews like Rye Wit, but the weather begins to cool down providing the perfect opportunity for some more robust brews like O’Henry’s Porter and OktoberFiesta.
Another great part about fall, is that the new hop harvest is in, which is the only time of year that wet, fresh, whole hops are available to us. This year’s Fresh Hop brew is Fresh Hop the Truck, a pale ale brewed with Citra hops picked straight off the vine and overnight shipped to us. Look for it in 10-14 days from tomorrow.
With October right around the corner, you also know that our annual release of OktoberFiesta, our Belgian-Bavarian hybrid of the autumn classic. Look for it in the beginning of the month.
This fall will also mark the return of Otono Bienvendido, our fall pumpkin saison, after a one-year hiatus. Chock full of roasted pumpkins and toasted pumpkin seeds, this tawny, malty brew should see the taps near the end of October.
In our last newsletter we announced the next bottle release would be Saturday, September 24 featuring Witicus and For2una Roja. Unfortunately, For2una was not up to standard and we will not be able to release it. In its place will be Figgy Wood’n, a barrel-aged wild ale brewed with figs and honey.
Also keep in mind our new Bottle Release Policy: Going forward, all bottle releases will be subject to the following policy: when you arrive, you will be given a coupon with a number on it. We will have enough coupons for the number of bottles we have available, assuming everyone buys their full allotment. Those without coupons can line up behind those with coupons to buy any bottles that were not purchased through the allotment program. We will not allow the “scalping” of coupons (not cool) or the resale of bottles (illegal) on our premise.
Lastly, I can tell by the number of emails it’s the time of year for La Muerta anticipation to start to grow. As is our custom, La Muerta will be available on tap (no growlers) on Tuesday November 1. The bottle release will be the first Saturday of November—this year that falls on the 5th. Still to be determined how many bottles will be released, but it will at least be as many as last year (450).
(The newsletter also makes barely a mention of the recent release of Tadarada IPA and the mid-October release of 4Shadow).
